What are the match rules for Civilization VI?

1.1 Match Procedure

  • Tournament Teams
    • A “team” will consist of 1 Player. Multiple teams from each eligible institution will be allowed to participate in the tournament.
  • Set Length
    • All tournament sets will be played as one (1) game.

2.1 Game Rules

  • Patch: All Games will be played on the current patch available and will be on the base game only, no expansions.
  • Game Setup: Players will need to communicate via the Vanta platform to exchange usernames and add each other as friends on Steam so that a custom match can be created. The “Home” team will create the lobby.
    • Ruleset: Standard
    • Turn Timer: Dynamic Turn Timer
    • Turn Mode: Dynamic Turns
    • Start Era: Ancient Era
    • Speed: Online
    • Map: Pangea
    • Map Size: Dual
    • Resources: Standard
    • World Age: Standard
    • Start Position: Balanced
    • Barbarians: Off
    • Victory: Highest Score at Turn 100
      • Victories by Domination or Religious Victory are allowed if they are reached before Turn 100.
  • Civilization Picks: Each team will be ban 3 civilizations, then will pick from the remaining available civilizations. Opposing teams cannot pick the same civilization.
    • “Home” team will ban a civilization first.
    • “Away” team will then ban the next civilization.
    • “Home” team will ban a civilization.
    • “Away” team will ban a civilization.
    • “Home” team will ban a civilization.
    • “Away” team will ban the last civilization.
    • “Home” team will pick from the remaining civilizations.
    • “Away” team will pick from the remaining civilizations.

3.1 Restrictions

  • Mods
    • No third party mods are allowed for official Vanta competition.
    • If an opponent uses a mod, please report to support@vanta.gg so that a forfeit loss will be awarded to the team that used the banned character.

4.1 Reporting

  • Score Reporting Format: Scores will be reported in “Win/Loss” format. Teams will indicate the number of games won by each team, final scores should be one of the following: 1-0
  • Forfeits: Forfeits will be considered a 1-0 win for the team that showed up to play.
