Maui Economic Development Board Minecraft Camp

Everything you need to know for set up & logging in to the Vanta Platform and Minecraft Edu on the day of the camp! The goals of the camp as follows:

  • Introduce players to beginner coding and computer science concepts such as pattern recognition, sequencing and loops.
  • Learn how to use two different coding languages, Block and Python.
  • Facilitated through Minecraft: Education Edition, which was created specifically for educators to enrich their teachings.
  • The sandbox environment of Minecraft allows students to express their creativity and exercise their problem-solving skills.

Logging into Vanta and Joining the Event 

  1. Go to https://app.vanta.gg
  2. Use the username and password provided in your student’s information sheet
  3. Go to My Events
  4. Find the MEDB Spring Break Minecraft Camp camp listing and click it
  5. Click on Join Arena once it becomes ungreyed. Join Arena becomes available 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.
  6. If your web browser asks for permission to use your microphone and/or webcam, click Allow
  7. Click Enter Arena
  8. Make sure your coach and fellow teammates can hear you and that you can hear them; if you cannot, you can use the text chat feature to request guidance

Installing Minecraft Education Edition and joining the session (Install Minecraft Edu)

  1. Go to https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/get-started/download
  2. Download the version of Minecraft Edu that corresponds to your computer
  3. Follow any instructions given to you to download the Minecraft installer
  4. Run the Minecraft Edu program
  5. Click Sign in, and enter the email and password provided in your student’s information sheet
  6. Click Play on the Home screen and then click Join World
  7. Ask your Vanta coach for the join code and enter it
  8. Please make sure to have Minecraft Education Edition installed before the camp begins so there are no delays in getting instruction when the camp begins!
